Bristol
is a world centre for the exploration of the natural world. The BBC's
Natural History Unit, creators of Attenborough's Life on Earth series
amongst others, is based in Bristol and this has led to the city becoming
an international centre of excellence. This tour includes two of the West
Country's most popular attractions.
Wildwalk ¦
Bristol opened in June 2000 and is a completely new approach to
interpreting the natural world that will change visitors' perceptions
forever. Over 95% of all described animal species are smaller
than a hen's egg and in Wildwalk, their world is brought to
life in vivid close up in a combination of animals, plants and the
latest in sound and vision technology. The innovative Wildwalk building
also includes a giant screen IMAX cinema shows both 2D and 3D films,
an educational space plus a cafe, shop and terrace area. |
Allow at least 1 1/2 hours, plus another 2 hours if including an IMAX
film. Wildwalk is part of a £97 million Millennium Landmark project between
Bristol's waterfront and the Cathedral, creating a thriving new cultural
quarter for the city.

The Wildscreen Natural
World Festival is a long established festival of film and the international
'Oscars' of wildlife filming. It is an annual event and takes place
in early October at Wildwalk ¦
Bristol. |
Only 10 minutes drive
away in the heart of Georgian Clifton is Bristol Zoo Gardens, the
country's second oldest zoo and one which in recent years has invested
millions of pounds in new visitor attractions. Enjoy a real life experience
and see over 300 species of wildlife in beautiful gardens don't miss
the fantastic new Seal and Penguin Coasts with their spectacular underwater
viewing. Other favourites include Gorilla Island, Twilight World,
and a children's play area.
